As a major producers’ cooperative, we take great pride in our work safeguarding the wellbeing of bees and promoting our beekeepers’ products. We represent the only complete honey supply chain in Italy, and with more than 100,000 hives we are also the largest producer of organic honey in Europe. Our business operations and approach to the national and international markets are based on direct relationships, bonds between people, enthusiasm and shared choices.
At Conapi we are committed to cultivating and multiplying biodiversity.

The certification system is one of the tools that our company uses to constantly strive to offer products consistent with Food Quality and Safety expectations.

CONAPI intends to maintain and develop the current integrated Quality, Environment and Energy management system to enhance the company’s image and strengthen its production philosophy, which has always been based on:

  • respect for biodiversity: promotion of organic, regional, typical and fair trade production;
  • the implementation of environmentally friendly processing techniques: through the choice of innovative and biodegradable materials, supplies, packaging. The reduction of packaging and its biodegradability is a priority policy;
  • the promotion of the origin, quality of production and identity of producers.

The cooperative is constantly committed to spreading a culture of care and respect for the environment and its natural cycles, which has recently taken the form of an awareness-raising campaign against the massive use of pesticides in agriculture.

The company’s main objectives in adopting the Food Quality and Safety Management System (IFS Vers. 7, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 22005) are:

  • to constantly ensure the best possible level of food quality and safety, in response to new mandatory and voluntary standards and with a view to increasing environmental awareness;
  • to improve coordination between the various corporate roles and increase their efficiency by reviewing the processes currently in use and adopting standardised and shared work procedures;
  • to involve internal resources by providing career development and training plans aimed not only at the growth of technical skills, specific to the innovative processes implemented, but also those of culture and general knowledge, quality culture and transversal skills and sharing Conapi’s value system, especially for many young resources of this company. Great importance will be given to the development of skills that enable one to work in a group, in a team, to achieve results as a whole.

Furthermore, the company wants to ensure customer and consumer satisfaction by:

  • defining objectives for food quality and safety and pursuing improved performance in terms of reducing food safety risks. This is done through periodic risk assessment and the application of operating procedures, analysis of recalls and/or withdrawals, and the trend of complaints in pursuit of optimisation of production processes;
  • traceability, offering the consumer the possibility of finding information about the product and immediately reconstructing its history. Traceability is also the indispensable tool for bridging the gap between those who produce and those who use our products, giving the former the opportunity to advertise the qualities of their product and the latter the awareness of that quality;
  • ensuring compliance with the technical and legislative standards applicable to the sector and other requirements that may be subscribed to by the company or requested by customers.

The company is committed to being up-to-date and compliant with environmental regulations and legislation, and the main objectives that management has identified in adopting the Environmental and Energy Management System are:

  • continuing to promote among all staff a special sense of the environment aimed at information and awareness of the specific professional activity carried out, both for personal protection
  • as well as for the environment in general, maintaining a high degree of professional knowledge of the employees;
  • updating the assessment of the environmental status to identify possible interventions to improve the environmental performance of the production site, identifiable through the definition of precise objectives to be achieved through specific programmes;
  • communicating the current environmental status, improvement programmes and results to the outside world;
  • preventing pollution and building an energy and water saving policy that includes both the use of alternative sources and the application of techniques that allow for less energy and water consumption;
  • pursuing the improvement of the organisation’s energy performance

The company therefore intends to pursue the continuous improvement of its environmental management and monitoring system in order to further develop increasingly efficient and effective tools to prevent and manage risks, to safeguard the environment, with a view to sustainable development and with the objective of increasing environmental performance and preventing sources of pollution, where possible.

In general, the objectives common to the Quality, Environment and Energy management systems that the company management has identified are:

  • guaranteeing to the end consumer, distribution and trade, the constancy of the defined quality standards, both on the product, with regard to its chemical-physical-organoleptic profile and healthiness, and on the related services;
  • equipping itself with all the necessary resources to achieve the planned objectives and targets with an overall view to improving management and environmental efficiency and reducing non-quality costs;
  • through periodic audit cycles, verifying the achievement of objectives and the identification of possible new aspects for improvement;
  • periodically reviewing the degree of implementation and achievement of objectives, reviewing and modifying them according to new and specific needs;
  • involving all personnel in the Quality-Food Safety and Environment System to maintain the highest possible level of training and communication.

The company is committed to ensuring that the aforementioned objectives can be achieved by allowing all necessary measures to be taken to adapt the entire structure to the identified standards and to change established habits, and by imposing a high level of attention and concentration on everyone throughout every phase, together with a high level of personal responsibility.

CONAPI is therefore committed to:

  • Spreading this Policy to ensure that it is understood by its workers and suppliers, and to make it available to the public and all stakeholders;
  • implementing this Quality and Environmental Policy at all levels of the company.
